(September 22, 2023 ) Pineview Reservoir, UT – We are all systems go for the World’s premiere wake surfing event of the year. This year’s festivities have brought the 2023 WWSC back to a fan and competitor favorite location at Cemetery Point. After an incredible first day of riding, we are extremely proud of all the competitors who showed up to throw down! Riding conditions for Day 1 of the 2023 Centurion WWSC could not have been better as we watched some of the best riders in the world post some incredible scores behind the all new 2024 Salute 2 Service edition Ri230 powered by GM Marine Engine Technology by PCM.

After a 7:30am MDT National Anthem, riders took to the course as we began Day 1 with the Youth Female Surf. California native and beloved Centurion Team Athlete, Kenzie Hickey posted the highest score in this heat as we prepare for Day 2 action.

For the first time ever at a WWSC, we have introduced an Adaptive Athlete Division. This division is designed specifically for athletes who have overcome physical challenges. We believe the addition of this division in the WWSC is paramount to the inclusion of this sport, allowing athletes from all walks of life to participate and compete at the highest level. Our first athletes to compete in this prestigious division are Florian Dungl who earned the top spot after Day 1 with a perfect score of 100, along with three other riders, Matthew Osburn, Jordan Koeninger, Kimberly Kolstad. This division brought so much joy and smiles to the faces of the athletes and spectators on site, and we are so grateful that we had the opportunity to pave the way for this sport.

Masters Male Surf brought the heat with Keith Pohl and Team Centurion Athlete/Ambassador Trevor Miller duking it out on the water to earn the two top spots in their heats.

Landen Poplawski enjoyed his first day at the 2023 WWSC as he punched his ticket to the finals in both Semi-Pro Male Skim and Surf along with some other great Skim style riders in Jaxon Gardner, Luke Hutcherson, and Robert McClelland. Landon will join Tommy Darnell, Cole Reid, and JRob Terry in the finals for Semi-Pro Male Surf with a lot of promising fire power to see. These are two divisions you won’t want to miss with a lot of talented young athletes ready to explode!

The Pro Female Skim division was absolutely electric as Centurion rider athletes Whitly Stewart and Ava Stewart will be joined by Bailey Dunn and Ashley Inloes in the finals on Saturday. This is another division that you will regret missing, so stay close to the livestream to tune into all the action!
Arguably one of the most exciting divisions to watch of the day was the Pro Male Skim heats. From Heat 1, Reed Cole-Tucker and Centurion Rider Athlete Evan Hudson punch their tickets to the finals along with Jett Lambert and Centurion Rider Athlete Tyler Stewart. The highest score in this division belongs to Tyler Stewart with a whopping 122.9.

Our final division of the day hosted the Pro Female Surf heats. If you know anything about this division, you’re probably familiar with a young lady named Ashley Kidd… Well let’s just say nothing’s changed for her as she posted the high score of the day overall for this division. She was able to secure her spot in the finals along with Cassidy Gale, Kristina Kolesnikova, and Remi Sasaki.

Due to rough weather conditions, Pro Mens Surf was postponed to Day 2.
