(June 15, 2026) Merced, CA–The 2026 Centurion World Series of Wake Surfing (WSWS) administered by the World Wake Association (WWA) was designed with one goal in mind: grow the sport of wake surfing by creating more opportunities for riders of all ages and skill levels to compete.
The WSWS is an international competitive wake surfing series that allows riders to earn points toward qualification for the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship, where World Champions are crowned across every division. Whether it’s a rider’s first competition or a veteran competitor chasing a championship title, the WSWS provides a pathway for participation and progression within the sport.
For 2026, we expanded the series significantly, increasing our domestic event schedule by 50 percent to create more opportunities for riders across the United States. We believed more stops would provide greater access and flexibility for competitors. What we didn’t anticipate was that demand would increase even faster than the schedule.
Our first stop of the season, the Centurion Wild West Shootout in Peoria, Arizona, hosted by Century Marine, filled in just two weeks. We were thrilled by the response and believed it was a positive indicator for the season ahead. Then registration opened for the Centurion Come and Take It Conroe Classic hosted by Ski Dock in Houston, Texas. The event filled in just 32 hours. Most recently, registration opened for the Centurion Volunteer Wake Surf Classic in Johnson City, Tennessee, hosted by CBK Water Sports. Every available competitor spot was claimed in just 87 minutes. To say we were surprised would be an understatement.
While we’re incredibly proud of the enthusiasm surrounding the WSWS, we also recognize the challenge it creates. Right now, we feel a bit like a highly anticipated restaurant that opens its doors only to discover every table has already been reserved and there’s no room for walk-ins.
The competitors who were aware of registration opening dates and prepared to sign up immediately secured their spots. Meanwhile, some riders who are newer to the competition scene—or even new to the sport itself—may have missed their opportunity to register finding themselves on the wait list. That’s not the experience we want to create.
The purpose of the World Series of Wake Surfing has always been to grow participation in wake surfing, not limit it. As a result, we are actively making adjustments to registration capacities and registration procedures for the remaining 2026 events. We are also already evaluating additional improvements for 2027 to better accommodate the rapidly growing demand we are experiencing worldwide. The growth of the WSWS is a wonderful problem to have, but it is still our responsibility to solve it.
This series was created by competitors, for competitors. Every decision we make is guided by the goal of improving the participant experience while continuing to expand access to competitive wake surfing. As the series grows, our event administration, registration systems, and event capacities must grow alongside it.
Most importantly, this demand reinforces something we’ve believed since Centurion introduced the first wake surfing boat in 1995: wake surfing has the potential for broad appeal and long-term family enjoyment. People often ask why Centurion Boats invests so heavily in a competitive wake surfing series. The answer is simple: to grow the sport.
When more people participate, more communities embrace wake surfing. More dealers become involved. More families discover the lifestyle. More athletes develop their skills. Ultimately, more people experience the joy of riding behind a boat with friends and family. This growth creates more demand for wake surf boats.
The 2026 Centurion World Series of Wake Surfing schedule reflects that commitment:
1. Apr. 10–11, 2026: Centurion Wild West Shootout – Peoria, Arizona
2. May 2–3, 2026: Centurion Wake Surf Hiroshima Open – Hiroshima, Japan

As we continue through the 2026 season, Centurion Boats and the WWA want to thank every competitor, event host, dealer partner, judge, volunteer, and fan who has contributed to this incredible momentum.
The response has exceeded our expectations, but the mission remains unchanged: continue growing wake surfing while delivering the best possible experience for every participant. If the first half of 2026 is any indication, the future of competitive wake surfing is brighter—and busier—than ever before.
