(October 6, 2022 Lake Norman, NC) – We are all systems go for the World’s premiere wake surfing event of the year. After an incredible first day of riding, we are extremely proud of all the competitors who showed up to throw down! Riding conditions for Day 1 of the 2022 Centurion WWSC could not have been better as we watched some of the best riders in the world post some incredible scores behind the all new 2023 Ri230 powered by GM Marine Engine Technology by PCM.
After a 7:30am EST National Anthem, riders took to the course as we began Day 1 with the Amateur Female Surf heats. On Yee Wong (US), Mabel Fung (Hong Kong SAR China), Karen Wang (Taiwan), and Jocelyn Yu-Chen Chan (Taiwan) posted the highest scores in their heats earning themselves a spot in the finals.
Next to the stage was the Outlaw Male Skim division where Dylan Matthews, Jett Lambert, and Afton Bank all from the United States threw down some amazing runs, punching their tickets into the finals.
Masters Female Surf brought the heat with Kristen Revell (US), Heju Chin (South Korea), Kimberly Chen (Taiwan), and Kari Gebers (US) duking it out on the water from what was one of our most competitive divisions of the day.
The Pro Female Surf division was absolutely electric as Centurion rider Ashely Kidd (US) worked her magic scoring an 83.3, finishing atop her heat. Ashley will join an extremely talented field in the finals consisting of Cassidy Gale (US), Bailey Rush (Canada), and Minako Makiuchi (Japan).
Outlaw Male Surf division did not disappoint as Joey Harris (US) threw down a 105.5 in his first heat, earning him a spot in the finals alongside Centurion Ambassador Evan Hudson (US), and Turner Gebers (US).
The Pro Male Skim heats were about as heated as it gets! Rider after rider raising the bar so high, only a Centurion powered wave could get you over. Reed Cole-Tucker (US) and two Centurion riders, Sean Silveira and Tyler Stewart (US) dropping a 93.5 and a 106.5 on the rest field earning those 3 a spot in the finals.
We wrapped up day 1 of the 2022 WWSC with the Outlaw Male Skim division where Whit Shropshire (US) and Centurion ambassador Evan Hudson (US) put on an incredible performance, proving that this division will only get stronger in the future.
