Sammy (G) Goncalves is the reigning 2024 professional men’s surf world champion. Sammy is known for pushing the envelope of what should be able to be done on a wake surf board. He started wake surfing in 2016 and competing in 2017. He immediately fell in love with the sport and the competition culture. Sam went Pro in 2020 at the age of 14. Since then, he’s been honing his craft and continuing to have fun… always pushing himself and the sport with an unwavering work ethic. Outside of wake surfing, Sam is studying to become a pilot and is enrolled full-time at the Florida Institute of Technology, where he studies Aviation Management/Flight. Before competitions, Sam gets ready by stretching, listening to some chill music, visualization, and usually a pep talk from his Dad. Outside of wake surfing, Sam’s many interests include working out, surfing, flying, traveling, and training jiu-jitsu/MMA.
