Lake Conroe, Texas (October 6th, 2021) – Last month, Centurion Boats held the 1st annual Worlds Salute to Service event. With the help from Operation Wake Surf and Operation Get Out. This one-day event brought together 14 veterans, active-duty servicemen and first responders for a relaxing and exciting day spent with peers.
The goal is to help attendees access their ‘Blue Mind’—a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peace, unity, and a sense of general happiness associated with being in or around the water. The ‘Blue Mind’ isn’t just talk, leading industry researchers have found scientific connections between water and happiness which can lead to positive emotional, behavioral, and psychological benefits.
The riders went out on the Ri265, Fi25 and the Ri245. The heroes came from multiple agencies consisting of: Houston PD, Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens, Montgomery County Sherriff’s, Montgomery County Mental Wellness Coordinator, Harris County Constables and US Army.
At this event, Operations Wake Surf handed out challenge coins to the heroes. The challenge coin is to commemorate teamwork, years of service and gratitude.
The experience of our heroes and instructors where totally mind blowing. This is some of their thoughts:
Ken Scribner: Words cannot express the joy and the excitement I get from being a small part of our first responders having a great day on the water. The relationships we develop with these people will last a lifetime.
Robby Maschhaupt: I love my Job. We are extremely fortunate to be in a position to pay it forward to these amazing heroes. One Team!
Agent #1: Phenomenal group of selfless individuals that gave me a little oasis away from my stress.
Riley Schuster: For anyone going through tough times, this event is so helpful. My experience on the boat and on the water was such a great relief. For a few moments, I finally felt “peace”. I felt free from all the stress. I knew it was temporary and I knew when it was over, I’d still have to go back and face everything again. But, with everything I’ve gone through and all the challenges I’m still dealing with, I needed that so much. It was so worth it. Thank you for inviting me out there. It was such a great day for me.
Agent #2: The opportunity to be out on the water that beautiful day, and far away from the stress and emotional pressure they feel every day, was so deeply appreciated. I’ll never forget this day or all the people who were there that day, showing their kindness and support to our first responders. I’ll also never forget how Robby never stopped coaching, he never gave up, and he never stopped believing in us; as we each entered the water and gave wake boarding a try for the first time.
