Employees volunteer their time and effort throughout the holiday season.
Merced, CA (December 22, 2020) – Throughout the Holiday season employees from Centurion Boats volunteered in numerous ways to help out the local community. Centurion’s employees took pride in providing their time and effort to programs like Operation Christmas Child, Toys for Tots, Christmas with Dignity, and cleaning up Merced Applegate Zoo and Bear Creek.
Centurion employees, team athletes, and ambassadors came together to pack over 150 Christmas boxes for Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child. Along with the 150 boxes, the Centurion family raised over $380.00 in funds that will go to help bless children all over the world.
When asked about what packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child meant to her, Vice President of Centurion Boats Amy Mauzy said,” Being able to come together with my family and bless a child with a gift was an awesome experience. My kids and I went to the store and we had a fun time picking out all the gifts that they wanted to put in their box. We thought it would be a great idea for our boys to pack a gift for the same age as them. We are all looking forward to tracking our Christmas boxes to see where they end up.”
Throughout the month, employees have made numerous donations in various collection bins that will go to Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots provides donations to bless local first responder families. Centurion wanted to show our gratitude to the local first responders who keep our employees and their families safe in our community throughout the year and the holidays.
In addition Centurion was able to give multiple gift donations to Christmas with Dignity. Christmas with Dignity is a program run by the Winton Lifeline Community Center. Their goal is to collect new unwrapped gifts and make them available for families to purchase at a heavily discounted cost, allowing them the opportunity to purchase a gift themselves rather than receiving a freebie.
Finally, on December 5th, 2020 a group of 11 Centurion employees came together with other members of the community to participate in a clean up for the Merced Applegate Zoo & Park and Bear Creek. Centurion donated a dump trailer and truck for the day, and was able to fill two dump loads of miscellaneous trash helping to beautify the area.
When asked about the impact that the clean up day had on the community, Event Coordinator Shell Buchner stated, “Having the opportunity for members of the community to give back in a way that is not limited to financial donations was great to see. Time and effort can be just as valuable as money. This lifts the spirit of the community and gives a good example for the next generation to keep the community neat and clean.”
