The best wakeboarders in the world squared off this week in the 2019 world championships.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (November 23, 2019) – The 2019 IWWF World Wakeboard Championships came to a close Saturday after an exciting competition that saw over a hundred of the world’s best wakeboarders compete for world championship titles. Since Tuesday riders have been competing in group rounds of competition leading to finals day on Saturday.

The Centurion team members competing at worlds this year found success as American wakeboarding legend and Centurion Team member Adam Fields won his semifinal heat and finished 4th in the Over 30 Master Men category while David O’Caoimh, Centurion’s only Irish team member, made it to finals finishing 4th in the Open Men category. David’s run was particularly impressive as he outperformed his own expectations and ended the tournament as the fourth best Open Men’s wakeboarder in the world. The young YouTube sensation certainly seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

When asked about the competition, David O’Caoimh commented, “Today was incredible, honestly I was just hoping to make it to semifinals, then to make it to finals was surreal. I decided to go all out in finals and it paid off. The conditions were perfect, the wake was incredible, and I had the support of a bunch of Irish on the shore. The whole day was a bit of a whirlwind but an incredible day none the less.”

The event was organized by the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club (ADIMSC) who selected a tremendous venue for the competition at the Eastern Mangroves Promenade. The tournament’s official towboat was the best of both worlds 2020 Centurion Ri237, the two boats used in competition featured Fire Red Metal Flake and Pretty Penny Metal Flake gelcoat colors, needless to say the Centurion’s sparkled on the water throughout the competition.

We’re so thankful for the opportunity to work with the IWWF at this event, their leadership in the watersports world is unparalleled and they take championship events to another level. This year the IWWF live stream was better than ever and so many fans were able to follow live from abroad.”
