As the first towboat manufacturer to offer the Mussel Mast’R Aquatic Invasive Species Filter System, Centurion Boats is offering congratulations to Wake WorX for the special Environmental Award received from the NMMA.
(Merced, CA) – Centurion Boats is congratulating Wake WorX on their 2015 NMMA Innovation Award. Centurion was the first water sports towboat manufacturer to offer production models with the Eco-Conscious filtration system also known as the Mussel Mast’R Aquatic Invasive Species Filter System by Wake WorX. This environmentally responsible innovation earned Wake WorX a special Environmental Award at the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) 2015 Innovation Awards held last week at the Miami Beach Convention Center during the Miami Boat Show.
The Wake WorX Mussel Mast’R Aquatic Invasive Species Filter System effectively filters out aquatic invasive species and their larvae before it pumps them into special ballast tanks or bladders commonly used in boats designed for wakeboarding and other wake sports. Scott Wood, of Wake WorX, developed the system in partnership with the Water Sports Industry Association, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency in the Lake Tahoe area, the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission, the California Department of Fish and Game and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department.
Scott Wood and Wake WorX owner and president MaryKate Wood were overjoyed by the award announcement. “We didn’t officially know if we won anything,” Wood said. “We were told it would be in our best interest to be here.”
The filter system is available as an option on many 2015 model-year Centurion boats under the Centurion brand name Eco-Conscious. It is also available as an aftermarket kit.
“We couldn’t be happier for Wake WorX! This recognition couldn’t be more deserved,” emphasized Erin Mcllhatton, Chief Operating Officer for Centurion Boats. “We are proud to have been the first towboat manufacturer to partner with Scott and MaryKate on this environmentally friendly innovation and look forward to a long relationship with Wake WorX.”
