The 4th day of competition behind the Centurion Ri23 (https://centurionboats.com/boats/ri237/) at Puerto Escobar in Buenos Aires, Argentina commenced with the Open Men’s Quarter Finals. Shota Tezuka (JPN) showed all the qualities of a 2017 World Games Gold Medalist with a technical run consisting of 720 & 900 degree spins and handle pass inverts. Reigning IWWF Open Men’s Champion Massi Piffaretti (ITA), Guy Firer (ISR) 2017 World Games Bronze Medalist, David O’Caoimh (IRL) 2017 IWWF Europe & African Champion, Cory Teunissen (AUS) 2015 IWWF World Cup Mandurah winner who landed a backside 900 and Nic Rapa (AUS) IWWF World Cup rider all advanced to Friday’s Semi-Finals. Juan Martin Velez and Jorge Rocha, the only two Colombians remaining in the Open Men’s competition, also advanced.
The Masters Men’s Semi-Finals were very intense with former Open riders battling for a space in the final. As expected Marcelo Giardi (BRA) advanced to the final, together with Argentina’s local heroes “Teky” de Palma and Alejo De Palma. Jorge Garizurieta (MEX) won his heat to also advance to the final along with Team USA’s Adam Money and Adam Fields, 2009 IWWF World Open Men’s Champion.
The Junior Men’s Semi-Finals had everyone on their feet with a very high level of riding, in particular from the Ditsch brothers from Argentina who advanced to the final, exciting the local crowd. Sam Brown (AUS), Luca Kidd (GBR), Elliot Digney (AUS) and Patricio Gonzales (MEX) were the other riders advancing to the final.
